“PORTRAIT PERFORMANCE”

The project "Portrait Performance" shown by José abajo Izquierdo is from all points of view an "uncontainable" project. And it is so from its very inception, the proposal seems to be based on the fracture of any possible sort of frontier. Is it photography?, Painting?, Performance? or not. Or not only. And here lies one of the main hits of the author; the deception of the look used to seeing that which has already been seen, the play of the roles between work and spectator in which their respective positions are never guaranteed as such. In Abajo´s work -those who have been in one of his sets know only too well- the parts of the author and the work don´t exist; both mingle and are confused. And if there is no work without a body upon which it is represented in front of the camera´s lens, how can you decide who finishes up the piece; the artist, the model or the spectator assaulted in his security perimeter?
